Maplan relocates from Ternitz to Kottingbrunn

The Austrian machinery supplier Maplan GmbH and its parent company Soulier Management GmbH have invested approximately EUR 12 million in the construction of a new production facility and the factory relocation from Ternitz to Kottingbrunn, Austria.

Maplan will employ a staff of approximately 200 people at the new location. 90 % of the employees have relocated from Ternitz to Kottingbrunn, south of Vienna, says the company. According to Maplan, a holistic concept was implemented for the new start in Kottingbrunn: new administration, conversion from single-position production to “takt” production and an integrated industrial engineering process with which all company functionalities were realigned. Standard machines with a clamping force of up to 4,600 kN remain in “takt” production until completion. If a standard series machine must become a special machine due to customer-specific wishes, it is taken out of the “takt” production line and completed in traditional fixed-place assembly. In the initial phase there are 20 bays for single-position production where work can take place in parallel to the “takt” production line. The production hall in Kottingbrunn now has an area of more than 5,200 m2. That, and the optimised production logic, results in a doubling of capacity, says the company. Maplan had a turnover of EUR 45 million in 2015. The company operates five subsidiaries worldwide, including locations in the USA, China, France, Germany, and Russia.
