BASF to build new TPU plant in Germany

BASF Polyurethanes GmbH announced a mid-double-digit million euro investment for the construction of a further production line for Elastollan TPU as well as a new dispatch and commissioning hall at its Lemförde site in Germany.

The new TPU plant will expand the already existing production complex. According to the company, this is the largest single investment ever made by BASF at the Lemförde site. The total usable space of 8,600 m2 covers production, storerooms, tanks, silos and office areas. Details on the capacity of the plant were not disclosed. The completion of the new building and the start of production are scheduled for the end of 2018. BASF said the investment will strengthen the Lemförde site as a global competence centre for polyurethane specialities.
