Lotte Versalis Elastomers opens synthetic rubber complex in South Korea

Lotte Versalis Elastomers, a 50:50 joint venture between Versalis (Eni) and petrochemical company Lotte Chemical, has inaugurated an integrated industrial complex for the production of synthetic rubbers, including EPDM, S-SBR, and BR, in Yeosu, South Korea.

The site has a nameplate capacity of 200,000 t/y. ­According to the company, the production streams are mainly targeted to tyre and automotive industries, styrenics modification and technical goods. The JV was established in 2013 and uses Versalis’ technology, industrial expertise and commercial network, as well as Lotte Chemical’s site integration, which ensures the availability of feedstocks and industrial facilities. Versalis is present in the Asia-Pacific region with commercial units in Shanghai and Qingdao, China, in Mumbai, India, and Singapore.
