Itasa builds release liners plant in Mexico

The Spanish company Itasa is investing EUR 20 million in the construction of a silicone paper and film production plant in Querétaro, Mexico. The investment includes a new Bobst coating machine able to produce papers and films, two Euromac slitters, as well as in-line and off-line flexo printers. The 6,000 m2 plant will have an estimated production capacity of more than 150 million m2 and will serve customers in the USA and Latin America.

According to Itasa, construction of the plant will be completed in November 2018. It will initially provide employment for a staff of 30 people which will increase to 50 people in late 2019, when production is expected to be at full capacity.

The company has been manufacturing silicone paper since 1974 for different applications in sectors such as self-adhesive tape, labels, composites, medicine, graphic arts, and hygiene. Currently, the company has an annual production capacity of 750 million m2 and achieved a turnover of more than EUR 80 million in 2017.
