Chinaplas 2004 attracted over 57,000 Trade Visitors

The largest ever Chinaplas exhibition closed at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Pudong, Shanghai, PR China with a total of 57,751 trade visitors, of which 7,028 (12.2 % of total visitors) came from over 50 overseas countries and regions.

A number of delegation groups also flocked to Chinaplas to view the latest technology and equipment.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Bernd Knoerr, General Secretary of the European Committee of Machinery Manufacturers for the Plastics and Rubber Industries (EUROMAP) said, “Chinaplas 2004 is designed to promote new developments in the production and application of plastics. It is a showcase where engineers and entrepreneurs can find know-how and innovative concepts to improve the efficiency of their factories and the quality of their products.”
This year, Chinaplas gathered 937 exhibitors from 26 coun­tries/regions, with Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, PR China and Taiwan, UK and USA organizing their pavilions. With an exhibition area of 60,000m², Chinaplas is the largest international plastics and rubber trade fair in the Asia Pacific region.
According to the visitor statistics, 63.8 % of visitors were manufacturers, 16.9 % were importers / exporters / wholesalers / agents, 6.3 % were retailers and 4.1 % were from research and technology centres. Regarding type of ownership, private ownership was dominant, accounting for 50.1 % while joint venture enterprises and stated-owned enterprises reached 34.7 % and 13.2 % respectively. Besides, visitors came from different industries and sectors, covering plastic products manufacturing, packaging, building materials, brewery and beverage, food, auto parts, electronic products, toys, chemical and daily chemical products, medical equipment, etc.
Some exhibitors pointed out that Chinaplas would be their third prioritised trade show to be participated, following the K Fair in Dusseldorf and the NPE in Chicago.
Organised by Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd and co-organised by China National Light Industry Council - China Plastics Processing Industry Association, Shanghai Society of the Plastics Industry and International Trade Promotion Corporation, Chinaplas 2004 was exclusively sponsored by the European Committee of Machinery Manufacturers for the Plastics & Rubber Industries (EUROMAP) in China.
