SPE Central Europe: Solvay supports SPE Automotive Award
SPE Central Europe has announced a new sponsor: Solvay Speciality Polymers will support an award category at the 20th Automotive Award 2021. According to SPE Central Europe, Solvay contributes with innovative and competitive solutions to meet today's and tomorrow's requirements in a wide range of areas, while at the same time conserving the resources of our planet. The Automotive Award of SPE Central Europe is awarded to innovative vehicle parts and components made of plastic.
“Intersection with SPE Central Europe and especially the Automotive Award are innovative products for more energy efficiency in vehicles, such as composites for lighter vehicles and chemicals that reduce the rolling resistance of tyres,” said Georges Houtappel, Market VP Transportation at Solvay Speciality Polymers. Bernard Rzepka, Division Chairman at SPE Central Europe, added: “Another Solvay focus is on developments for new, high-performance batteries for electric cars – a field of innovation that SPE Central Europe also takes up in the Automotive Award with the category "New Mobility" and the new Special Award for the best overall environmental performance of all submitted vehicle components”.
Following the Call for Parts and Components in September 2020, the first entries for the 20th SPE Automotive Award have already been received. Until 15 January 2021, innovative vehicle components and parts made of plastic can still be submitted in the categories Body Interior, Body Exterior, Power Train, New Mobility, Electronical/Optical Part, Chassis Unit/Structural Component and Enabler Technology.
