Repsol: IATF 16949: 2016 certification for automotive materials

Repsol has certified under the IATF 16949: 2016 standard its industrial complexes in Tarragona, Puertollano, and Polidux – the centres where its automotive materials are produced. The company has obtained this certification for polyols, polypropylene and its compounds, and high-density polyethylene. Repsol said that after over 30 years supplying polyolefins and polyols for the automotive sector, this new certification allows the company to take a further step in its commitment to excellence and leadership in this sector in Europe.

Repsol has a wide range of certified materials, among which are:

  • A range of polyols to enable its automotive customers to meet their highest requirements and goals both in the field of soundproofing, with the arrival of the electric vehicle, and of the seat module, for weight reduction and interior comfort.
  • Innovative materials designed for foaming technologies and fibreglass compounds with very high rigidity for semi-structural parts that replace elements made of heavier traditional materials.
  • A wide range of polypropylene compounds for interior and exterior applications with different types of fillers.
  • Its new very high-impact resistance range of polypropylene grades under the Repsol Impacto brand, for which the company made an investment in mid-2020 for the installation of a new gas-phase reactor in its Tarragona Industrial Complex.
  • High-density polyethylene for fuel tanks.
  • Polypropylene for 3D printing of both prototypes and functional parts in the automotive industry.
  • Its Reciclex range of polyolefins that manages to recover polymers from cars that have reached the end of their useful life, guaranteeing the supply of new homogeneous materials that contain recycled material, even in applications with high technical requirements such as automotive parts.
