Recticel Engineered Foams USA: New business with Blue Origin
Recticel Engineered Foams USA announced that it was awarded the supply of high-performance foam-based thermal and acoustic protection systems for the New Glenn rocket fairing kit of aerospace manufacturer Blue Origin. According to Recticel, the 21st century space race is well under way with private companies competing to make commercial space travel and transport more accessible and affordable through sustainable innovation. Recticel Engineered Foams USA will supply US aerospace manufacturer Blue Origin with engineered foam composites for the New Glenn rocket fairing kit, an orbital reusable launch vehicle designed to carry people and payloads routinely to earth orbit and beyond. The New Glenn space carrier is said to feature more than twice the payload volume of any other five-meter class commercial launch system. Recticel Engineered Foams’ fairing kit protects these payloads during the launch of the rocket and it’s return to earth.
In addition, Recticel Engineered Foams USA will also supply materials for Blue Origin’s sub-orbital reusable launch vehicle, the New Shepard. As such, Recticel will be part of the upcoming historic first human flight on 20 July 2021 of New Shepard and its occupants Jeff and Mark Bezos and the winning auction bidder of the third seat.
