Graco transfers Gusmer spray operations, forms RIM unit
Graco Inc., Minneapolis/Minnesota, USA is to consolidate its Gusmer spray equipment business into its Minneapolis and Sioux Falls, South Dakota operations.
The Gusmer facility in Lakewood, New Jersey will then be the base for Gusmer Decker -- a newly formed reaction injection moulding (RIM) equipment business unit combining the activities of Gusmer and LCC/Decker. Graco acquired Decker operation as part of its purchase of Liquid Control Corp. in January 2005, just prior to its acquisition of Gusmer Corp. The Minneapolis-based group said it expects the consolidation to be mostly completed by the year end. David Roberts, Graco president and chief executive officer, said: “This consolidation is being done to take advantage of synergies between the Graco and Gusmer spray businesses, allowing us to reduce costs and better serve our customers by combining product lines and leveraging Graco's manufacturing, technical and customer service in Minneapolis and Sioux Falls.” Gusmer Decker combines the companies’ metering equipment and mixing heads manufacturing, supply, technical support and development activities. The comp[any claims the merger will mean better technical service, quicker turnarounds and a broader range of technologies for Gusmer and LCC/Decker equipment owners. Dennis Commette, vice president and general manager of Gusmer Decker, said: “Combining the resources of these two well-respected RIM design and manufacturing business units will allow us to significantly expand our product offerings, as well as enhance technical/customer support around the world.”
