VIETNAM: Export rubber price likely to increase
Source: Vietnam News Agency, Hanoi; 23 Nov 2006
The price of Vietnamese rubber for export is likely to
rebound after a strong fall last month, and local
producers will ship almost 60,000 tonnes of latex per
month in November and December this year, forecasted
the Viet Nam Rubber Association.
The possible growth is mainly driven by a strong
increase in world demand for rubber while there will
be a reduction in rubber exports from countries in the
Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The price of Vietnamese rubber is currently between
1,900 - 2,000 USD per tonne, compared with 2,800 USD
one month earlier.
According to experts, Viet Nam's rubber output, which
often increases substantially in the fourth quarter -
makes up 40 percent of the yearly yield - accounts for
5-7 percent of the world's total production.
