On 22 June 2021, Engel gave an optimistic outlook for the current fiscal year. "Our order books are as full as they last were in 2018", said CEO Dr. Stefan Engleder. "We have genuinely sky-rocketed out of the crisis." At the same time, new challenges await the injection moulding machine manufacturer and system solution provider from Austria, above all the current supply bottlenecks in raw materials and components. "We have evolved during the crisis," said Engleder. "We will master the challenges that lie ahead well."

Mathias Schöttke has been appointed Managing Director and Labour Director of BASF Coatings GmbH, headquartered in Münster, Germany, effective from 1 June 2021. At the same time, he will assume global responsibility for Human Resources in BASF's Coatings division. In both functions, he succeeds Sören Bauermann, who has taken on a new position within the BASF Group as Senior Vice President.

The globally active US company HDT Automotive Solutions has agreed to acquire the German automotive and industrial supplier Veritas. The relevant company purchase agreement has been signed by insolvency administrator Dr. Jan Markus Plathner, partner at the nationwide active law firm Brinkmann & Partner, and several acquiring companies of HDT Automotive Solutions. The purchase includes all four German sites in Gelnhausen (Hesse), Polenz and Neustadt (Saxony) as well as Benshausen (Thuringia) and all foreign subsidiaries in Europe, Asia and North America. In Germany, around 1,520 employees will be taken over. According to current plans, around 60 of the 1,166 employees in Gelnhausen will be made redundant. All employees at the six foreign subsidiaries will be taken over. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Lanxess announced that it has completed the sale of its organic leather chemicals business to TFL Ledertechnik GmbH on 1 June 2021. TFL is a global supplier of leather chemicals and a portfolio company of US investment firm Black Diamond Capital Management, L.L.C. All relevant antitrust authorities have granted the necessary approvals for the transaction, which was announced in August 2020.

The Chemours Company announced a series of leadership transitions effective 1 July 2021. Mark Newman, the company’s current Chief Operating Officer, will become President and Chief Executive Officer of Chemours, succeeding Mark Vergnano, who has served as President and CEO since the company’s founding in 2015. Vergnano will be retiring from the company and assume the position of non-executive Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors for the balance of 2021, assuring an effective transition of leadership to Newman. In this role he succeeds Richard H. Brown, current Chairman of the Board, who has announced his intention to retire after leading the Board of Directors for the last six years. With these changes, Dawn Farrell, who has served on the Board of Directors since the company’s founding and is a member of the Audit Committee and Compensation Committee, will become the company’s Lead Independent Director.

Huntsman has developed a new thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) grade for technical extrusion parts and blown film applications that is said to offer significant improvements over previous generation technologies when it comes to durability, production efficiency and reducing manufacturing waste. According to the company, Irogran A 85 P 4394 HR TPU is the latest addition to a well-established family of elastomer products from Huntsman, which are renowned for their performance in a diverse range of industrial and consumer applications.
