Prof. Georg Menges, Professor emeritus, holder of the Chair of Plastics Processing and long-time head of the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University, passed away on 28 February 2021 at the age of 97. Prof. Menges was also holder of an honorary doctorate from the Montan University Leoben, an honorary member of the Board of the Association of Sponsors of the Institute for Plastics Processing in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University as well as a holder of numerous national and international awards.

Pascal Laborde has been in charge of the French Arburg subsidiary in Aulnay-sous-Bois since 1 November 2020. Arburg SAS was the company’s first foreign subsidiary to be set up back in 1985. Besides Arburg is planning a new building for the subsidiary located in the Greater Paris area spanning approximately 1,600 m2.

Dr. Darijo Mijolović is taking over the management of Gummiwerk Kraiburg GmbH & Co. KG in Waldkraiburg, Germany, and its subsidiaries in Bulgaria and Russia on 1 March 2021. He succeeds Helmut Esefeld, who has successfully managed the company since 2006 and is now going into retirement.

Continental has changed its management in the “Specialty Tires” business unit as of 1 January 2021: Wolfgang Thomale, head of the entire Specialty Tires business unit, is also responsible for the associated Two-Wheel Tires segment. This was previously under the management of Thomas Falke. Falke, will from now on be responsible for the Commercial Specialty Tires segment, which Thomale had led since summer 2020.

Wittmann Battenfeld has intensified the cooperation between its Sales and Application Engineering departments. To this end, special focal areas of application technology have been defined and appropriate reorganization measures taken. Six fields have been selected to receive special attention over the next two years: medical technology, micro injection molding, packaging technology, elastomer engineering, multi-component injection molding and light-weight design. Levi Cottington, Managing Director of CHT USA Inc. has taken over the management of the global business field General Industries of the CHT Group as of 1 October 2020. In his new function, Cottington combines both tasks. He reports directly to CHT Group management. His predecessor Dr. Ralf Brückmann has ended his active role as Head of BF General Industries on 31 December 2020 after 21 years with the company. Since joining the company on 1 October 1999, Dr. Brückmann has held major roles throughout the company. The success of the business field General Industries is largely due to his work and expertise, the company said.
