ACS Rubber Division: TPE Award for Krishna Venkataswamy
Rubber Division, ACS annually honors outstanding elastomer experts with the prestigious Science & Technology Awards. Among these awards is the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award.
At the International Elastomer Conference in Pittsburgh (4-7 October) the Rubber Division announced the winners of the 2022 awards. Dr. Krishna Venkataswamy, executive vice president of Star Thermoplastics, is the winner of the 2022 Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award. The award is sponsored by Renkert Oil, LLC, and honors significant contributions to the advancement of the chemistry of thermoplastic elastomers.
Dr. Krishna Venkataswamy started his career 33 years ago, at Monsanto Chemical Company’s Santoprene business. Krishna held technical and technical management positions at Advanced Elastomer Systems (JV of Exxon and Monsanto) and GAF. Krishna has led with Senior Global Technology Director roles at GLS/PolyOne, and he was Senior VP and Chief Technology Officer at Interface Performance Materials. He is currently Executive Board Member at Zylog Elastocomp.
Dr. Krishna Venkataswamy’s breakthrough innovation drive in TPE products has made significant global commercial impact. Dr. Krishna is honored with “2012 Research and Engineering Technology” from the Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE). He is the recipient of 2006 SPE Fellow Award and 1986 ACS Sherwin-William award in Applied Polymer Science for his doctoral work.
Krishna has a PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, a MS in Materials Engineering from University of Florida, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He has over seventy patents, patent applications, published journal papers, conference papers and trade magazine articles (among these several articles in TPE Magazine) to his credit.
