Henkel: Compact mixing and dosing system for two components
Henkel has presented the new, compactly designed Sonderhoff 3E dosing cell, which is said to stand for an economic, efficient and ecological production. According to the manufacturer, this mixing and dosing system for two components precisely processes liquid, medium and high-viscosity polyurethanes or other polymer reactive materials. Using the FIP (Formed-In-Place) technology, two-component sealing foams, adhesives or potting compounds are directly applied onto the part, precisely and freely programmable, with the CNC-controlled mixing head.
The dosing cell can be easily packed, transported and delivered as a completely assembled system in a 20-foot container. The CE-compliant cell is prepared in such a way that it only needs to be set up at its destination and connected to the power, compressed air and water supply. As soon as electricity, compressed air and water are available and the conditioned material is in the material pressure tanks, the production can start.
The Sonderhoff 3E is designed as a completely closed dosing cell, and therefore, it can be used in production in a space-saving manner. The manual lift-door with integrated safety switch at the front of the cell allows access to the dosing area inside the machine and safely defines the hazardous area.
The Sonderhoff 3E is designed as a starter model for frequent standard applications. The linear robot of the dosing cell controls the Sonderhoff MK 425 mixing head in a traversing range of 2.5 m x 1.25 m x 0.25 m (W x D x H). The mixing head is designed for output quantities of 0.5 to 5.0 g/s, with a mixing ratio that can be infinitely adjusted from 10 : 1 to 1 : 2. This allows approximately 80 % of current applications to be covered. A further special feature is the use of high-pressure water rinsing technology, which provides an environmentally friendly rinsing of the mixing chamber in the mixing head using tap water instead of solvents.
The optional shuttle table unit permits the single-level processing of parts on two worktops, which move back and forth in a pendulum mode. This offers both continuous operation and short cycle times. For larger parts, the two worktops can be connected to one large shuttle table.
The Sonderhoff 3E dosing cell with its pre-adjustable operating parameters is said to ensure a safe, precise and thus efficient production process, with a maximum traversing speed of up to 15 m/min and a reproducible material dosing application with a high repeating accuracy of 1 mm (± 0.5 mm). It is designed for fast and short set-up and programming times, with which above all frequently changing small to medium quantities can be produced economically. Thanks to a very attractive entry price, it also enables a very short payback period, said the manufacturer.
The Sonderhoff brand of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA is a globally operating technology platform for customised sealing, adhesive bonding and potting solutions using Formed-In-Place (FIP) technology. Henkel provides users with materials, machines and the process from a single source. The product range consists of foam sealing, adhesive and potting systems based on polyurethane, silicone or PVC, as well as mixing and dosing systems for automated material application to industrial components. Alternatively, the company takes over the sealing, bonding and potting of customer components on its systems at contract manufacturing locations in Germany, Austria, Italy, USA and China. The spectrum ranges from the sampling of prototypes and small series to series production on a production scale.
