INDONESIA: Chandra Asri & BP continuing study for Banten condensate splitter JV

Chandra Asri Petrochemical and BP Singapore have agreed to follow up a preliminary study on jointly constructing a condensate splitter refinery in Banten, Indonesia, that would reduce Chandra Asri’s reliance on imported naphtha feedstock, according to the Jakarta Post.

The project, which would process up to 100,000 b/d of naphtha, is expected to supply between 40% and 50% of Chandra Asri’s feedstock requirements. The company now imports 100% of its naphtha feedstock.

Chandra Asri last year began a project that will increase the capacity of its naphtha cracker to 860,000 t/y of ethylene from 600,000 t/y and 470,000 t/y of propylene from 320,000 t/y currently.
