Croda presents new bio-based monomers and solutions for WPCs at K 2013

At K 2013 Croda Coatings & Polymers will present a selection of sustainable monomers (building blocks), polyols and additives. These products offer a wide range of different functionalities alongside high performance properties. Croda Coatings & Polymers has extended its range of 100% bio-based Priplast polyester polyol building blocks for polyurethane applications with the introduction of Priplast 3293. The product is semi-crystalline and its availability broadens the amorphous Priplast range to meet the requirements for high demanding polyurethane applications by offering performance characteristics such as hydrolytic and thermo-oxidative stability combined with an improved environmental profile.

Priamine 1075 is a flexible dimer diamine bio-based monomer for polyimide plastics offering very good moisture protection, enhanced solubility and affinity for a wide range of substrates.

Croda Coatings & Polymers will exhibit together with Croda’s Polymer Additives team who will celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Crodamide range of slip agents. The products of the Crodamide brand deliver very good product performance, consistent quality and a large selection of amides in different physical forms, which supports the many different processing conditions manufacturers are currently using.

“Croda’s expertise in plastics technology, built on our many years of experience, has allowed us to emerge as market leaders,” said Jill Ullathorne, Technical Marketing Manager – Polymer Additives.  “We are so excited to be celebrating 45 years of Crodamides this year, as this celebration acknowledges our long-standing commitment to innovation in this market area, while recognizing how this foundation will support our future growth into new and exciting areas within plastics.”

Croda has furthermore announced a new line of speciality additives for wood plastic composites. Incroflo additives act as lubricants to allow increased throughput of WPC during processing by increasing flow rate and dispersion. This allows for lower processing temperatures and pressures during manufacture. In addition, the Incroflo range:

  • acts as a barrier between the WPC and the extruder to reduce wear, especially on screws,
  • optimises mechanical performance as measured by MOR, MOE and Charpy impact resistance,
  • improves surface finish, and
  • reduces water absorption, which can lead to warping.
