Graco launches Reactor 2 range – A revolution in spray foam and polyurea technology
Over the last ten years Graco technology has made the Reactor electrically operated pumps into a market and technology leader. In order to avoid complacency and avoid the fate of former technology market leaders such as Blackberry, Nokia; Graco engineers and designers have listened to its customers and applicators to develop an innovative product that increases productivity, offers robust electronics, and remote reporting capabilities.
The Reactor E-30 is now over ten years old and has been the mainstay of the Reactor product line. The new Reactor 2 E-30 range has been given an update to leverage the Graco electronic reporting systems, while improving consistency of output, smoother operation of pumps to produce a better quality spray, reduced downtime due to the use of resistive temperature devices (RTD) along the hose, a sacrificial surge protector (SSP), as well as options included in the Elite package such as Xtreme-Wrap scuff guard on hoses and the InSite remote reporting software.
“These innovations will allow the contractor to be more efficient due to reduced downtime and consistency of output,” explained Tryg Waterhouse, Product Marketing Manager. “In the event of a problem the ADM (advanced display module) generates a troubleshooting code as well as a QR code which can be read by a smartphone. The QR code directs the operator directly to the relevant section on the Graco website, creating an immediate response.”
The key features of the new Reactor 2 include: the ADM offering easy to access electronics being placed at head height rather than floor level; a 40 % reduction in footprint; a low pulse spray performance to create a smooth application of material, which produces an effect very similar to equivalent hydraulic equipment; and the new brushless DC motor which is quieter and easier to maintain. For contractors working in areas with insecure power supplies, the sacrificial surge protector absorbs unexpected peaks in power supply thereby eliminating downtime from damaged equipment. The replacement of thermocouples with resistive temperature devices also better detects problems in the heated hose, detectors can be inserted for every 50 ft of hose, thereby allowing more accurate and faster solution to blockages. The new equipment can feed material through a hose length of up to 94 m (310 ft) with an output of 13.5 kg/minute with a maximum working pressure of 138 bar. Elite models include fluid inlet sensors, a Fusion CS Gun and InSite technology.
If you’re not spraying the customer isn’t paying
The use of Graco InSite software allows real-time tracking of the equipment. The software gathers information that can save money, help contractors to bid more accurately (using stored data from similar jobs), tracks material usage, spray time, temperature and pressure readings and hours of use. All these parameters allow contractors to see whether a job has been completed correctly and within the allowed time, as well as to troubleshoot specific problems associated with a job. The data allows for better customers service, better fleet and crew management and better cost containment and forecasting, as well as providing protection against claims.
Graco InSite technology works by transmitting data via local cellular networks, where it is stored in the cloud. The data can be accessed by smart phone, tablet or computer via the internet. Data is transmitted in real-time, making it possible to receive up-to-date information on the status of a job. This technology has been developed in collaboration with 2-Track Solutions LLC, an established leader in web-based vehicle intelligence and tracking. Graco InSite is a subscription based service through this company.
Reactor 2 integrated systems (E-30i)
This system is a complete system for polyurethane foam or polyurea applications which combines the electric Reactor 2 and a diesel generator into a single package. This system saves fuel costs by using heat generated by the 22 kW diesel engine to heat the A and B chemical components, creating an average 50 % reduction in fuel consumption. These kits also use a hydrovane rotary vane air compressor, eliminating the need for an air tank. The compressor is also quieter than conventional compressors. In addition, a refrigerated air dryer efficiently removes moisture from the air supply.
A Reactor 2 for every applicator
The Reactor 2 is available in several formats, as the Elite or standard package, suitable for polyurea (E-XP2) or polyurethane spray foam (E-30); with or without heaters; with or without air compressors. In addition, remote display kits are available for use by the operator at the spray gun, hoses in various lengths, with or without Xtreme-Wrap scuff guard and with Fusion or Probler spray guns.
