Cannon exhibits at Composites Europe 2014

Carbon fibre-reinforced structural parts for the most innovative German vehicles are made using a dedicated Cannon fibre preformer

The Cresim project generated industrial results: a satellite dish has been produced by assembling seven equal parts produced with Estrim LLD technology in a dedicated mould.

With Estrim LLD technology the epoxy resin is deposited (uniformly and only where it is required) over the carbon reinforcement.

The new InterWet 30 mixing head designed by Cannon Afros for high-output co-injection of polyurethane and glass fibres (InterWet process).

The ninth edition of Composites Europe – trade fair and forum for composites, technology and applications – will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, from 7 – 9 October 2014. The trade show has already been booked by 440 exhibitors and the attendance is expected in the area of 11,000 visitors.

Cannon will be present again at this important event with a stand (G40 in hall 8b) and several important highlights for the processing of composites and polyurethanes:

Estrim, a complete moulding solution for the epoxy-based fast RTM process designed for the production of automotive, leisure and sport parts. The industrial results of an innovative project named Cresim (Carbon Recycling by Epoxy Special Impregnation), finally aimed at the development of proper processing methods for the manufacture of CFRP parts using recycled carbon fibres. This Life+ EU-funded project addresses fully the waste reuse issue by demonstrating a new innovative manufacturing process, which will potentially reuse up to 100 % of the carbon fibre waste and scraps from different industrial sectors, transforming a costing environmental problem of today in an opportunity of greening the production processes and getting economic benefit for tomorrow.
The equipment for the wind-power industry – resin infusion dispensers, degassing units, gluing machines for blades – that is rewarding Cannon with growing volumes of business worldwide, thanks to the availability of dedicated low-pressure metering units for the use of epoxy formulations in the largest blades, manufactured for off-shore and conventional wind turbines.
High-pressure mixing heads: advanced solutions for general purpose polyurethane and epoxy resins up to specialised applications such as filled (SoliSpray) and glass-reinforced (InterWet) formulations, multi-component and multi-hardness foaming, high-output, cavity filling.
