CPI Polyurethanes Conference debuts new workshop on environment, health and safety

Attendees at the 2013 Polyurethanes Technical Conference can look forward to a new pre-conference workshop on the environmental, health and safety (EHS) issues related to diisocyanates. Hosted by the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council, the conference will take place 23 - 25 September 2013 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel in Phoenix, AZ, USA.

“We are pleased to expand our professional development offerings this year with our brand new pre-conference workshop,” said Lee Salamone, senior director of the CPI. “Attendees can look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the fundamentals and evolving regulations related to the environmental, health and safety issues surrounding diisocyanates, which are increasingly important for today’s polyurethane professionals.”

Titled “Introduction to Environmental, Health and Safety Issues Relative to Diisocyanates,” the pre-conference workshop will be held on Sunday, 22 September 2013, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. During the workshop, industry experts will discuss the fundamental concepts of EHS regulations, industrial hygiene, toxicology, medical surveillance and exposure controls. As a result, participants will be able to better educate those who work with diisocyanates on their use, handling, and potential health hazards and control measures, including engineering controls and personal protective equipment (PPE).

The workshop is offered at no additional cost to those registered to attend the 2013 Polyurethanes Technical Conference. Registration is now open.
