From ANTEC 2011
"The overall success of ANTEC 2011 reflected the gathering strength of the economy worldwide and continuing demand for the quality technical information that ANTEC provides," said Kyle. "That demand is global. International participants at last week's ANTEC came from 42 countries as various as Australia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates."
A total of 84 exhibitors were present. This year's conference featured 700 technical presentations (an increase of 25 % from the 2010 conference) in 37 sections. In addition, the Fundamentals and Fellows Forum with six presentations and New Technology Forums with 18 presentations took place. The special Fast Track Training Program featured 14 seminars, among them one was on thermoplastic elastomers.
New Executive Committee
At ANTEC SPE has installed Russell C. Broome as its new president, succeeding Ken J. Braney. Broome is a strategic accounts manager for PolyOne. At ANTEC 2012, he will be succeeded by the new president-elect, James S. Griffing, who is a Technical Fellow for The Boeing Company.
An SPE member since 1992, Broome held the positions of president-elect in 2010-2011, senior vice president in 2009-2010, and secretary of the Society from 2007-2008. He has been involved with the SPE Piedmont Coastal Section since 1994, serving as its president in 1997-98.
"The world has changed a lot since SPE was founded in 1942",said Broome. "And we all know the pace of that change has accelerated – for the world, for our industry and for all of us personally. Within our industry, the need for collaboration to both share information and ideas has never been more important or pervasive. In the coming year as president of SPE, I will seek to embrace the changes we see in our industry, technology, and social interactions. Specifically, I will focus on fostering and mentoring the incoming generation of SPE members. They are our future." Prior to joining PolyOne in 2008, Broome ran his own business and held engineering and marketing positions for both small local companies and global corporations.

ANTEC & NPE 2012 together in Orlando

There will be a technical or commercial track of the conference. The technical track includes more traditional ANTEC papers, which address new technologies and techniques currently in development in the plastics industry. The commercial track is for papers that speak to commercial applications of these technologies and techniques, and can be similar to a case study.
