CHINA: Oriental selects Ineos technology for Ningbo Innovene PP project

Oriental Energy Co. has selected Ineos Technologies’ Innovene polypropylene (PP) process for a new plant in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province in China.

Ningbo Fuji Petrochemical Co., a subsidiary of Oriental Energy, is building a plant to produce 400,000 t/y of PP resins including homopolymers, random copolymers and impact copolymers. The project schedule was not given.

Oriental Energy Co. “is embarking on an ambitious expansion program” that will make the company “one of the major players in the market for olefins and polyolefins in China,” noted Ineos Technologies Business Director Peter Grant.

Earlier this year, Oriental Energy signed a license agreement for the use of Union Carbide Chemicals & Plastics’ Unipol process in a 400,000-t/y PP plant being built in Zhangjiagang, Jiangsu Province.

UOP’s C3 Oleflex technology has been selected for a propane dehydrogenation unit to produce 600,000 t/y of propylene in Zhangjiagang.
