ACS Rubber Division announces 2013 award winners

The Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has named five winners that will receive the Science and Technology Awards 2013 during its 183rd Technical Meeting from 22 – 24 April 2013 in Akron, OH, USA.

These awards recognise specific distinguished achievements of rubber scientists, engineers, chemists, and technologists worldwide. Dr. Russell A. Livigni, retired VP Corporate Technology of GenCorp, North Canton, OH, USA, will be honoured with the 2013 Charles Goodyear Medal (sponsored by the Rubber Division) for his pioneering work with high trans rubbers. Dr. Stuart Cooper, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Ohio State University, Columbus, OH, USA, will be awarded the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award (sponsored by the Ralph S. Graff Foundation).

Wilma Dier­kes, Engineering Technology, University of Twente, Enschede, Netherlands, has been named as the winner of the Sparks-Thomas Award (sponsored by ExxonMobil Chemical). William L. Hergenrother, Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology (BART), Akron, OH, USA, has been chosen for the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award (sponsored by Lion Copolymer). Ali Dhinojwala, University of Akron, Akron, OH, USA, will receive the George Stafford Whitby Award for Distinguished Teaching and Research (sponsored by Cabot).
