Akhtar new Managing Director of BASF Pakistan

Effective 1 February 2014, Faisal Akhtar has been appointed as Managing Director of BASF Pakistan (Private) Limited and Managing Director of BASF Chemicals & Polymers Pakistan (Private) Limited. He succeeds Qazi-Sajid Ali, who will retire effective 31 March 2014.

Prior to joining BASF, Akhtar was General Manager, Chemicals Business for ICI Pakistan Limited. During his 23 year service for ICI Pakistan, he has held several managerial positions in areas including new business development, strategic planning, and overall company management. He holds a postgraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Karachi.

Qazi-Sajid Ali completes 29 years of service at BASF Pakistan, including 13 years as the Managing Director, as of 31 March 2014. Under his leadership, sales turnover of both companies has doubled since 2002.
