Elastron: New UL approved HFFR grades

Elastron products being featured at Fakuma 2011 include SEBS and SBS based TPEs, EPDM/PP based TPVs and EPR/PP based TPOs for a whole array of applications ranging from automotive to construction seals, consumer products, white goods and appliances, and medical and care products.

The portfolio of the Turkish compounder comprises speciality products such as halogen-free flame retardent compounds, FR TPVs for high temperature applications, bondable insert moulding and 2K moulding grades, TPVs for automotive weatherseals and other automotive applications including interior, exterior, and under the hood parts, and TPEs for window gasket applications.

A highlight will be the new halogen-free flame retardanat low smoke and fume TPE-S and TPV. grades for E & E applications. They have UL 94 V0 approvals for a wide hardness range. The company stresses the very good long term electrical properties with high dielectric strength, the UV/ozone, oil and chemical resistance. They are copper stabilized, lead-free, RoHS compliant and suitable for dry and wet applications. Being very tough and stiff, these grades show good mechanical properties in a broad service temperature range from -40 C to 135 °C.

Typical applications of the new HFFR grades include single or multi-gate cable grommets, low-to-medium voltage power cable jacketing and insulation, jacketing of flexible cords and cables, appliance wire insulation and jacketing, electrical connectors, plugs and tops, and automotive cable covers and harnesses.
