Maplan: Solutions for rubber, silicone and TPE processing

The Austrian company Maplan informs at Fakuma about its broad spectrum of injection moulding machinery for elastomer processing. It comprises not only solutions for the traditional rubber industry, but also for solid and liquid silicone, and thermoplastic elastomers. All of these solutions are offered in connection with extensive automation options as well as multi-component solutions and insertion technologies. As highlight this year the company presents two machines, one for liquid silicone and another for TPE processing.

MTTF80P/40C for the processing of TPEs

Maplan shows a vertical TPE injection moulding machine MTTF80P/40C with a C-frame design, a clamp force of 40 t and a floor space optimised for this machine size. The machine is additionally equipped with hydraulic mould run out. The screw injection unit, especially for high performance TPEs and with the optimum L/D ratio of 22:1 is said to guarantee a homogenous plasticising of the melt, which is an important precondition for a consistently high quality of parts.

MTF200L/100 for the processing of liquid silicone

Furthermore Maplan shows a vertical LIM liquid silicone injection moulding machine MTF 200L/100 with state-of-the-art technology and a clamp force of 100 t. Especially noteworthy in this regard are the very good mixing of the LSR components by the FIFO injection unit and the excellent injection and repeat accuracy. These features are achieved through the use of a mixing screw and an exact piston injection with an interposed actively operated stop valve.

Cool Drive II with servo drive technology

Both machines are equipped with the Cool Drive II drive with a servo drive technology. Next to energy savings of up to 70 %, this technology also leads to a substantial noise level reduction. With servo technology and constant pumps in connection with the user friendly control generation PC5000touch and PC50touch, a significant improvement of the machine performance though better dynamics can be achieved.

The Cool Drive II drive technology is available for almost the complete machine range with clamp forces from 15 – 1,000 t and injection units with injection volumes of 30 – 26,000 cm³. Depending on the application, Maplan offers horizontal and vertical injection moulding machines with top or bottom injection.

The exhibits presented in Friedrichshafen are used for various applications in different fields, such as for example medical technology, sealing technology, the electrical industry, the automotive industry, and for technological form parts.
