“Very British” – AutoRim presents new machine series at K 2013

Engaged by AutoRim to evaluate new methods of production, Katy Hindson advised AutoRIM to embark on UK manufacture of standard low pressure polyurethane foam and elastomer units after research identified that processors prefer a ‘local’ machine which is operator friendly, available on short lead time, reliable with good local technical and process support, and attractively priced. AutoRIM development engineers, pioneers of designs including GSPU large output low pressure mixing machines with hollow sphere incorporation for deep sea oil and gas extraction, sand-filled elastomers for electrical encapsulation, and epoxy resin for offshore buoyancy, took the research forward and produced a new range of designs which incorporate an ECOmode for reduced energy consumption and the D-series mix head for improved foam mixing and quality.

Discussions were held with local engineering suppliers and the majority of Rim-Mix components are now manufactured and sourced within 50 miles of AutoRim in Derbyshire. The benefits of AutoRim batch building machines in the UK are spread across the Peak District creating local production clusters improving turn round time and reducing cost. The new range of machines has been acknowledged as UK designed and built, and is proud to be awarded the ‘Made in Britain’ marque.

The Rim-Mix series of machines is being officially launched at the British Pavilion at K 2013 in Dusseldorf.
