SAUDI ARABIA: Top German firms to join chemical industry expo

About 200 companies from Germany and other countries plan to hold a major chemical engineering and process industry exhibition in Riyadh. Dr. Thomas Scheuring, CEO of DECHEMA, said in an interview that he recently visited the region to promote the Frankfurt version of the ACHEMA exhibition, which takes place from June 15 to 19 in 2015.

He also held talks with local businesspeople to hold the same event in the Kingdom's capital.

DECHEMA organizes the ACHEMA exhibition, which focuses on process analytical technology, industrial water engineering and biobased production.

He said the exhibition would include laboratory and analytical techniques, packaging machinery, pumps, valves, fittings and the complete range of process engineering.

He said DECHEMA and its trade partners want to hold the event in Riyadh.

“Our exhibitors want to hold an exhibition in the region because they have seen huge demand for their services and technology in the production of oil and petrochemicals and water desalination,” Scheuring said.

He thanked Andreas Hergenroether, delegate of the German Trade and Industry for Saudi Arabia and Yemen, and the staff of the German-Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs for facilitating the talks.
