IKV Colloquium Plastics Technology 2014

From 19 – 20 March 2014, the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) at RWTH Aachen University will stage the International Plastics Technology Colloquium for the 27th time. Every two years, the institute invites plastics experts from around the world to attend this important event in Aachen, Germany. In 2012, more than 600 experts from nearly 300 companies and 15 nations took up the invitation. The IKV Colloquium has enjoyed success for more than 60 years now.

“Recruiting, Networking, Innovating” is a guiding theme of the IKV Colloquium. Its scientific staff will present the spectrum of IKV research in 18 sessions with more than 50 papers. Numerous innovations have arisen from this in the past. External experts from industry and research will open the sessions as moderators with presentations of their own. An accompanying trade show with over 40 exhibitors will offer opportunity for discussions with business partners and for making new contacts.

The IKV engineers will present their current research results from the fields of injection moulding, extrusion and rubber technology, part design and materials technology, as well as composites and PU. On the afternoon of the first day, IKV “360°” is on the agenda. Here, the institute will be opening its doors and will be presenting its research live at the running machines in its laboratories and pilot plants.
Some of the plenary lectures will add counterpoint to the selected topics and thus further stimulate debate.

The networking concept will also move more into the spotlight. Prof. Dr. Christian Hopmann, head of IKV, will open the event with a presentation of the IKV research highlights. A special and unique item on the agenda will be the presentation by Prof. em. Georg Menges, who celebrates his 90th birthday this year. IKV will honour its former institute head with a special session.

Other plenary speakers are Prof. Dr. Dirk Abel, Institute of Automatic Control, RWTH Aachen, Dr. Heinz Neubert, Bosch GmbH, Dr. Georg Oenbrink, Evonik Industries, and Dr. Hans Wobbe, who is responsible for technology transfer at IKV. The presentation of two awards will round off the program. Further information can be found at www.ikv-colloquium.com.
