Chemtura opens new facility in China

Chemtura Corporation has opened its new multi-purpose facility in Nantong, Jiangsu province, China, consisting of three production units for petroleum additives and urethane products.

The new plant is located in the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area and features administrative and maintenance buildings, utilities, a centralised control room, and quality control labs. Construction began in March 2012.

According to Chemtura, this project represents the company’s largest single investment since its formation in 2005 and the central site for production in Asia-Pacific, specifically in China.

Chemtura says growth in the urethanes division, including its low-free (LF) prepolymer urethanes, is driven by the commercialisation of its Adiprene Duracast product line coupled with increasing global and regional demand for its LF products.
