OMAN: Orpic entering prequalification process for USD 3.6-billion Liwa Plastics Project

Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries Co. (Orpic) has invited international and domestic contractors to prequalify for one or more contracts for its $3.6-billion Liwa Plastics Project being established adjacent to the Sohar refinery in Oman.

The invitation for prequalification covers the engineering, procurement and construction packages for the 900,000-t/y ethylene cracker including offsite works and utilities; the high-density polyethylene, linear low-density polyethylene and polypropylene facilities; a natural gas liquids extraction plant in Fahud, and construction of a 300-km pipeline between Fahud and Sohar, according to the Oman Observer.

Only single entities are eligible to seek prequalification; however, applicants planning to form joint ventures or consortiums when the contracts are awarded may register their interest.
