INDONESIA: State-owned firm's rubber production to decline by 5 percent
State plantation firm PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) says its rubber production will decline by 5 percent this year due to weather uncertainty.
The company will produce about 42,750 tons of rubber this year, down from an average of 45,000 tons, PTPN III president director Amri Siregar said Wednesday (10 Nov. 2010), as quoted by kontan.co.id.
He also said rubber output from neighboring countries such as Thailand and Malaysia would decrease because of the weather conditions in the region.
“High rainfalls have affected the three main rubber producers — Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia,” Amri said.
