ACS Rubber Division announces 2012 award winners

Mike Fath, retired founder and President of Elastomer Technology, Inc., and Sabet Abou-Sabet, retired Chief Scientist at Advanced Elastomer Systems, will both be awarded the Chemistry of Thermoplastic Elastomers Award (sponsored by the Ralph S. Graff Foundation). C. Michael Roland, Head of the Polymer Physics Section at the Naval Research Laboratory, will be honoured with the Charles Goodyear Medal (sponsored by the Rubber Division). Prof. Robert Hans Schuster, Director of the Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie (DIK), has been chosen for the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award (sponsored by Lion Copolymer). Prof. Liqun Zhang from the Beijing University of Chemical Technology has been named as the winner of the Sparks-Thomas Award (sponsored by ExxonMobil Chemical). Jean Leopold Leblanc, Head of the Polymer Rheology and Processing Lab at Universite Pierre et Marie Curie, has been chosen for the Fernley H. Banbury Award (sponsored by Farrel). Ica Manas-Zloczower, Professor at Case Western Reserve University in the department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, will receive the George Stafford Whitby Award (sponsored by Cabot). Presentations to the award winners will be made by the sponsors during the Rubber Division's 181^st Technical Meeting in San Antonio, TX, USA, on 22 – 25 April 2012.
