Frozzypack keeps things cool

Frozzypack is a lunchbox with integrated cooling that helps to keep food cool and fresh. Carolina Sundberg is the inventor of this unique part; Elasto supplied the TPE which is used in the lid seal.

With Frozzypack the food keeps fridge-cold up to seven hours at room temperature. The lunchbox lid contains a non-toxic, cool-keeping gel that after ten hours in the freezer guarantees fresh food until lunch and later.

Elasto developed a TPE which needs to form a tight seal for the lid. The TPE grade from the company’s Dryflex range is food-approved with a Normpack certificate verifying food contact status according to the Normpack norm which includes the EU Commission regulation 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The material is BPA free as well as being dishwasher and freezer friendly.

As the lunchbox is available in a range of vibrant colours, it was important that the material was easy to colour. Elasto worked with moulder, Bonaj AB, to ensure the material was easy to process and gives an very good bond to polypropylene in overmoulding process.
