PolyOne showcases specialty solutions in Brazil during Interplast 2012

During the Interplast trade show, companies in the South American plastics community will be meeting with experts from PolyOne Corporation to discuss their needs. “South America has taken its place in the international plastics industry, and we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the region’s leading manufacturers in addressing their challenges and improving their profitability,” commented Philippe Vanhove, PolyOne country manager, Brazil.

PolyOne became a local producer and supplier of materials and solutions in the region through acquisitions. Most recently, in December of 2011, PolyOne acquired ColorMatrix, a supplier of liquid color and additives for plastics with a strong presence in the South American packaging market. The October 2010 acquisition of Polimaster and January 2011 purchase of Uniplen Indústria de Polímeros Ltda. also boosted the company’s capabilities in the region, which include specialty engineered materials, liquid color, color masterbatches, and polymer distribution - serving customers in automotive, packaging, appliance, healthcare, wire and cable, and other industries.

At Interplast, held in Joinville, Brazil from August 20-24, PolyOne is highlighting especially the following products:

  • PolyOne has expanded its Therma-Tech range of engineered materials for heat dissipative and conductive components to include grades optimized for manufacturing high brightness automotive LED lighting. Automotive processors also benefit from new OnColor SmartBatch concentrates that fulfill carmakers’ requirements for color and facilitate efficient assembly by preventing dust from collecting on finished parts prior to and during assembly.
  • PolyOne has expanded its OnCap additive technology in South America to include color concentrates that help manufacturers of polypropylene packaging achieve excellent clarity.
  • PolyOne offers manufacturers of appliances and other applications paint-free solutions such as its Geon FX Metal vinyl solutions that deliver rich colors and metallic finishes without the cost and environmental challenges associated with painting.
  • PolyOne recently introduced ECCOH 5917 material, a low smoke and fume, non-halogen formulation that can help wire and cable manufacturers in South America meet the increasingly challenging requirements of the region.

“PolyOne’s specialty approach is of great interest to South America’s plastics processors, brand owners and original equipment manufacturers,” added Vanhove. “Interplast, held in the heart of Brazil’s plastics processing region, is an excellent opportunity for us to highlight our most recent developments and to discuss how we can help customers solve their toughest challenges.”
