Dow Polyurethanes launches Vorasil SMP for the CASE markets

Dow Polyurethanes, a business unit of Dow Chemical, announced the launch of Vorasil Silane Modified Polymers (SMP), a cost-effective polyurethane and silane hybrid that allows targeted performance results and silicone-like properties in adhesives and sealants.

Vorasil SMP are a hybrid comprised of a polyurethane backbone and silane end groups, allowing for a balance of low viscosity and fast ambient cure time. Vorasil SMP allow adhesive and sealant manufacturers to formulate materials to reach targeted performance results while also achieving silicone-like properties without silicone cost, says Dow Polyurethanes.

Vorasil 602 and 604 SMP were unveiled at a private luncheon at the Adhesives and Sealants Conference on 22 October 2012 in Louisville, KY, USA. According to the company, these new products offer handling and sustainability advantages over other conventional industry options and were rigorously tested with adhesive and sealant customers. Vorasil SMP can be tailor formulated to achieve the following performance characteristics:
