Hoffman Mineral: Calcined Neuburg Siliceous Earth achieves excellent results in thermoplastics and elastomers

Hoffmann Mineral launched its Calcined Neuburg Siliceous Earth at K 2010; the company has been build up a special facility for this product, which has already found a good acceptance in the market.

At K 2013 Hoffmann Mineral will inform about the new products Silfit Z 91, Aktifit VM and Aktifit AM, which are subjected to a downstream thermal process and which fit well into a multitude of new application areas because of their color neutrality and technical advantages. Above all in thermoplastics the company’s technical service laboratories have achieved excellent results with the new functional fillers, such as in polyamide, as antiblocking additives in films and as extenders which are able to partially replace pigments in masterbatches and compounds.

Also in elastomers many technical benefits in new applications with the classical products Sillitin, Sillikolloid, and the surface-treated Aktisil, as well as in particular with the calcined surface-treated Aktifit AM are offered. When working with ethylene acrylate rubber (AEM), the fillers give evidence of imparting outstanding effects with respect to compression set and oil resistance. Very good results are also obtained with Aktisil Q as a partial replacement of ATH while maintaining a high level of flame resistance in silicone rubber. The result is a cost reduction of the compounds.
