Veritas uses Hipex for holding brake lines
Veritas, the manufacturer of innovative system solutions for the automotive market, uses Hipex in combination with a polyamide substrate to produce double clips for fastening brake lines. The clips will be used as a standard component in engine compartments. Hipex was chosen due to its high resistance to heat and media, as well as its thermoplastic processing properties. The TPV – compared to many other TPE materials– is permanently heat-resistant at temperatures up to 150 °C. In addition, the compounds are resistant to oil and grease also at high temperatures.
The double clip for brake lines is manufactured by Veritas via injection moulding. The thermoplastic processing method eliminates the time-consuming vulcanization process, which reduces the cycle times for the component. Adhesion to the hard component (polyamide) is achieved by mechanical anchoring, which eliminates further assembly steps.
“We are convinced that Hipex will become a standard material for use in the engine compartment and transmission”, says Dr. Martin Geissinger, Product Manager at Kraiburg TPE. “Our intensive market activities manifest a positive trend for the oil- and temperature-resistant thermoplastic elastomer Hipex. We are on the right track and we intend to expand the product group of Hipex.”
