HS Osnabrück: Susoff takes over professorship for polymer physics and plastics testing
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Markus Susoff is the new professor for plastics testing and polymer physics at the University of Applied Sciences in Osnabrück and head of the laboratory of the same name in the plastics technology laboratory area. The successor to Prof. Dr. Norbert Vennemann intends to expand the laboratory's research competence in a targeted manner and is focusing on close cooperation with companies.
Prof. Dr. Markus Susoff, born in 1978, completed his studies in physical chemistry at Clausthal Technical University, where he also received his doctorate in polymer physics in 2009. After a post-doc period at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences, he joined BASF Polyurethanes. There he was head of the Laboratory for Polymer Physics for more than six years. Afterwards he worked as group leader in materials science for the pharmaceutical and medical technology company B. Braun Melsungen in the Hospital Care Division, focusing on disposable medical products made of plastics.
The main focus of his work in his laboratory for plastics testing and polymer physics is on elastomeric materials, in particular thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), and their testing, characterization and development of structure-property relationships. Susoff is thus building on the existing competence of the laboratory and will continue and expand it in a targeted manner. Especially polyurethanes are to play a greater role in research and teaching in the future. "In addition to innovative material solutions for technical applications, we will also investigate aspects of recycling management in close partnership with companies in the future - especially for elastomeric materials," says Susoff.
