Borealis has appointed Christopher McArdle as Vice President Polyolefins Strategy & New Business Development effective 1 September 2020. In this role, he will lead Borealis’ Polyolefins (PO) Strategy & New Business Development Portfolio.

Melanie Kostka has been awarded the Reifenhäuser Sponsorship Award on the occasion of IKV’s 30. International Colloquium Plastics Technology. With the Sponsorship Award, the Reifenhäuser company honoured the outstanding research work done by Melanie Kostka, who is employed as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Plastics Processing (IKV) in Industry and Craft at RWTH Aachen University.

Dr. Markus Steilemann, CEO of Covestro, has been awarded the Georg Menges Prize 2020. With this award, which is presented every two years, the Plastics and Rubber section of Germany’s Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA), together with PlasticsEurope Deutschland e. The successor to Prof. Dr. Norbert Vennemann intends to expand the laboratory's research competence in a targeted manner and is focusing on close cooperation with companies.

Nokian Tyres’ Board of Directors has appointed Jukka Moisio as President and CEO of Nokian Tyres plc starting May 27, 2020. Hille Korhonen will step down after leading the company for three years as President and CEO, and prior to that as a member of the Board of Directors, building Nokian Tyres' success at both its home and growth markets. Jukka Moisio has a strong background in leading international companies. His latest assignment was as President and CEO of Huhtamäki Oyj, a global packaging company. Prior to Huhtamäki, Moisio served as President and CEO of Ahlstrom Oyj.

Christoph Michel, the current CEO and spokesman of the Board of Directors of G. Siempelkamp GmbH & Co. KG, has left the technology corporation Siempelkamp on 30 June 2020 in order to take on new tasks and challenges outside of the group. Dr. Martin Stark, Chairman of the Advisory Board, will fill the position of CEO as interim manager with immediate effect until further notice. During this period he will suspend his mandate as chairman of the Advisory Board of Siempelkamp. The Advisory Board is currently looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position at the helm of the renowned Krefeld-based company for the long term.

Sanjeev Taneja has taken over the management of Evonik’s business line Catalysts effective from 1 July 2020. On the same date, the Catalysts business line became part of the newly created Smart Materials division. He most recently headed Evonik India as President and Managing Director for more than two years. For his new role, he will return to Hanau, Germany, where he takes over the function from Steffen Hasenzahl, who has been named as the Managing Director of Evonik Creavis GmbH.
