Maplan: Solutions for rubber, silicone and TPE processing
The Austrian company Maplan informs at Fakuma about its broad spectrum of injection moulding machinery for elastomer processing. It comprises not only solutions for the traditional rubber industry, but also for solid and liquid silicone, and thermoplastic elastomers. All of these solutions are offered in connection with extensive automation options as well as multi-component solutions and insertion technologies. As highlight this year the company presents two machines, one for liquid silicone and another for TPE processing.
SPI Society of the Plastics Industry: New location, new start for NPE 2012
In the East Foyer of the Friedrichshafen fairground will be the stand of the SPI, the Society of the Plastics Industry, organisers of one of the world’s top three plastics fairs, NPE 2012.
Danquinsa: Products for adhesives, coatings and elastomer processing
Danquinsa is a system supplier for the plastic and adhesive industries. Highlights at the Fakuma will be the Pearlthane TPU range with new aliphatic grades, Pearlcoat Activa Plus aromatic and aliphatic compounds for decor surfaces with a pleasant haptic and soft touch effect, Pearlthane Eco based on renewable raw materials and the Maxi series with a special price-performance ratio for extrusion and injection moulding applications.
Plasticker: Online marketplace for the plastics industry
The focus of the online portal plasticker.com is the B2B marketplace for raw materials and the machine trading exchange, as well as the industry job market and an exchange for trade representatives.
Elastron: New UL approved HFFR grades
Elastron products being featured at Fakuma 2011 include SEBS and SBS based TPEs, EPDM/PP based TPVs and EPR/PP based TPOs for a whole array of applications ranging from automotive to construction seals, consumer products, white goods and appliances, and medical and care products.
Ultra-soft TPVs as EPDM alternative for automotive seals
Teknor Apex has introduced two new Sarlink TPV grades that can be used as an alternative to EPDM foam or sponge in automotive seals, construction weatherstripping, gaskets, and other profiles requiring high resilience for seal integrity. With Shore A hardness levels of 25 and 35, respectively, Sarlink 5725B and 5735B are, according to the company, the softest TPVs available for extrusion and exhibit the lowest compression set.
BASF: World’s first production-ready thermoplastic wheel rim
In September 2011, smart and BASF have exhibited a world first at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt/Main, Germany: The “smart forvision”, the new concept vehicle from smart, is the world’s first automobile to ride on thermoplastic wheel rims. However, they are not just a concept, but their performance has already been tested for high-volume production. The wheel rims will also be on display at the BASF stand during the Fakuma plastics trade fair that takes place from 18 – 22 October 2011 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Cannon: Smart technologies save energy
The new motto of Cannon is “Smart Technology – Save Energy”. This year the German subsidiary of the established Italian machinery company will present at Fakuma new machine concepts and further developments for processing technologies, conventional as well as recent ones.
Rampf: Bio-based sealing solutions
The system supplier will be exhibiting at the WVIB (Association of industrial companies based in the Baden region) joint stand, where it will be presenting its solutions for sealing, casting, bonding and designing based on renewable raw materials. The starting materials for new plastics with improved mechanical properties are natural raw materials such as vegetable oils, maize, wood (lignin) and greases.
KraussMaffei: Cutting machine costs with efficient production solutions
Increasing productivity and efficiency is the main theme of KraussMaffei’s stand at Fakuma. Under the motto BluePower the company has bundled its energy- and resource-efficient production solutions. At its stand KraussMaffei will feature low to medium tonnage injection moulding machines – hydraulic and electric machines from its CX, AX, and EX series.
Hennecke: State-of-the-art PU processing technologies
Hennecke has been developing polyurethane processing machinery and equipment for over 65 years. At Fakuma 2011, the company will present its portfolio of machine concepts, and plant technology.
Clariant: Brilliant colours
Clariant will inform about Cesa additives and combibatches for freezers. These are high-brilliance UV protected white and gray colours with antimicrobial additives.
Listgrove: Human resources solutions
The recruitment and human resources company Listgrove will be present at Fakuma for the third time.
Kuraray: Innovative elastomer solutions
At Fakuma Kuraray will highlight its comprehensive TPE portfolio including the established Septon and Hybrar brands and will also inform about its range of innovative liquid isoprene rubbers (Kuraray Liquid Rubber KLR). The company will exhibit together with its long-time distributor Marubeni.
Desma Tec: Fully automatic production of automotive spring aids
Desma is a well-known producer of low pressure polyurethane machines. At the Fakuma, from 18 – 22 October 2011 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, the company will showcase its newest generation of polyurethane low pressure technology in hall A7, booth 7405.
Api: Enjoy eco-friendly drinking with biodegradable straws
Fermani Cannucce and Api have introduced Bio Straw, a straw made of a 100 % biodegradable material. The straw is the result of a cooperation between the specialist in drinking straw extrusion and the TPE compounder, who delivered the material for this application, Apinat.
Elasto: Latest developments in adhesion compounds
It used to be a complex and costly affair producing details made of thermoplastics that showed soft-touch qualities or had integrated seals. With the development of the Dryflex A and Mediprene A series, since the materials are bonded together at the production stage, no separate primer or adhesive is needed. This makes the process faster and more cost-effective. Elasto will showcase the latest developments in their Dryflex and Mediprene adhesion products for overmoulding and co-extrusion applications at Fakuma.

Stieler Kunststoff Service shows at Fakuma innovative fluid systems, that allow for the energy efficient production of light-weight and material efficient parts with optimised properties.
Müller Kunststoffe developing TPE for children's tableware
Ornamin from Minden, Germany, has introduced a new series of children tableware: In addition to bowls, deep and flat plates, each set of this tableware has a cup with a coloured collar and six handles in a variety of colours. The company decided to use a combination of melamine with soft TPE parts and therefore looked for a soft, easy to clean, non-slip material to produce these parts. Müller Kunststoffe delivered a special TPE compound for this purpose.
Hasco: Innovations from the Mould Base and Hot Runner divisions
Hasco's Mould Base and Hot Runner divisions will present a variety of innovative solutions for mouldmaking and tooling design at the upcoming Fakuma in Friedrichshafen. The Lüdenscheid-based German company is specialised in the development and manufacture of standard mould units and hot runner systems for the plastics processing industry.
GSDI: Expansion in Europe
gsdi, a supplier of colorants and additives for silicone rubber, will inform about its European expansion plans at Fakuma 2011 and will launch its new brand identity. Earlier this year the company, formerly known as Gayson Silicone Dispersions Inc., was acquired by the ColorMatrix Group.
Kraiburg TPE: Compounds conform to drinking water standards
At Fakuma, the manufacturer of thermoplastic elastomers Kraiburg TPE will highlight a new range of products: compounds of the DW (drinking water) series that have been specifically developed to meet the main European drinking water standards. Thanks to its smooth, dirt and limestone repellent surface finish, the product is said to be ideal for use in plumbing installations like seals, shower heads, and other sanitary fittings.
Arburg: 50 years Allrounder and more
The focus of Arburg’s 2011 trade fair appearance will be on the Allrounder’s 50th anniversary and the Edrive series. A total of nine exhibits will be shown at the stand in hall A3.
Engel: Integrative solutions for exacting requirements
"More colours. More integration. More energy efficiency." – this is the motto chosen by Engel Austria in for this year's presentation of system solution competency at Fakuma. With five production cells at its own stand and five additional machines at partner stands, the Autrian company will be demonstrating efficient and economic production of premium quality moulded parts based on solutions tailored for a variety of applications.
Bayer MaterialScience: Solutions for global megatrends
Bayer MaterialScience plans to showcase innovative and sustainable developments for plastics processors under the motto “From Megatrends to Business” at Fakuma focused on global megatrends such as climate protection, mobility, technology, and health care.
