Argotec aims at further growth through acqusition

Leading US manufacturer of speciality TPU films and sheets, Argotec LLC, has expanded its business through the acquisition of the film and sheet portfolio of Stevens Urethane of Easthampton, MA, USA.

Based in Greenfield, MA, USA, Argotec is a manufacturer of custom engineered, high-performance polyurethane film and sheet for a variety of critical applications, including optical interlayers, paint and surface protection, graphic films, as well as films for medical and textile lamination applications.

“The two companies are an ideal fit. Our speciality is aliphatic polyurethane film and sheet. Stevens Urethane is very good at extruding aromatic TPU film and sheet,” said Guy Broadbent, Argotec’s president.

Stevens Urethane makes TPU film and sheet as well as urethane tubing, cord and profiles. It was a business unit of JPS Elastomers Corp., which is part of JPS Industries in Greenville, SC, USA.

Stevens Urethane competes with Argotec in some markets, so the combination of the two companies will be to focus on integrating the strengths of both companies and provide growth for a combined entity.

Argotech has 150 employees in three facilities in Greenfield. Its newest application is a two-part graphic film system that uses TPU film for graphics along with a clear over-laminate layer. The product is an alternative to cast vinyl films. Stevens employs 80 staff at its site in Easthampton.
