Pearlthane Eco TPU used in Breco’s timing belts

Breco Antriebstechnik Breher GmbH & Co. KG has developed a new range of timing belts made from Pearlthane Eco thermoplastic polyurethane supplied by Merquinsa.

The German company based in Porta Westfalica is a specialist in the field of polyurethane timing belt technology. Breco recently expanded its line of timing belts by launching Brecogreen and Brecoflexgreen, manufactured using Pearlthane ECO D12T90 (with 38 % bio-based content according to ASTM D6866). Developed by Merquinsa five years ago, Pearlthane Eco TPU was chosen because of its bio-based content and performance.

Pearlthane ECO D12T90 ensures a very good processability as well as hydrolysis and abrasion resistance, and has lower density and an improved value of low temperature flexibility in comparison to other polymer options for the same end-use applications. Thus, the material meets the required specifications of timing belts and also offers improved performance benefits. Breco states that since the load-bearing capacity and service life of Brecogreen and Brecoflexgreen belts match those of belts manufactured from petroleum-based TPU, it can guarantee their full operational reliability.
