Bayer MaterialScience helps Beazer Homes achieve recognition as 2013 Energy Star leader
Every new home in Houston, TX, USA, built by Beazer Homes in the past three years uses Bayseal OC (open-cell) spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation from Bayer MaterialScience LLC. Every new home built by Beazer is now Energy Star certified. To achieve this certification, each Beazer home is inspected, tested and verified by an independent energy rater to confirm the design and construction meets or exceeds the strict requirements set by the EPA. Headquartered in Atlanta, Beazer Homes is one of the country’s ten largest single-family homebuilders.
Bayer provided all of the SPF insulation used in new homes in the 14 developments by Beazer Homes within a 30 mile radius of Houston. Representatives from Beazer cite performance and company knowledge as key benefits of working with Bayer, a partnership that started three years ago.
“We appreciate Bayer’s knowledge about the total home building process. They’ve been a valuable partner to help us achieve the performance we’re looking for in our homes,” said Bruce Craig, Division President of Beazer Homes. “We believe energy efficiency should come standard on all homes, which is why 100 % of the homes we construct are Energy Star certified. Every new Beazer home in Houston included spray foam insulation, demonstrating our commitment to provide each of our homebuyers with one of the most energy efficient homes on the market.”
“Beazer is a very savvy builder and knows their target home owners well. They build homes that are the perfect combination of aesthetics and efficiency,” said Jeremy Parker, Bayer mid-south region business development manager. “Houston’s warm, humid climate puts different demands on homes than in other parts of the country. As such, Beazer is one of few homebuilders to use an unvented attic design. Studies have shown this construction method results in enhanced building performance, especially when using spray foam, yet it hasn’t been widely adopted. Beazer has never been afraid to try new assemblies to get the performance results they want.”
