Cannon to showcase processing technologies at PU TECH and JEC Europe
First industrial results of the CRESIM project: a 130 cm diameter satellite dish (r.) has been produced by assembling seven equal parts produced with ESTRIM LLD technology in a dedicated mould (l.).
Cannon will also present its complete plants for the production of flexible and rigid slabstock foams with metering equipment for alternative blowing agents as well as discontinuous and continuous methods for the production of thermal insulating elements. Furthermore, the company will showcase solutions for the automotive industry, in particular for flexible foam seats and car interior parts, as well as equipment for the production of composite parts, its range of products designed for ESTRIM, and DX machines for low pressure infusion of epoxy resins.
At JEC Europe 2014 in hall 7.2, stand Q54, the company will present its most recent developments in the field of thermoforming as well as for the production of composites. The complete manufacturing line required for the production of thermosetting or thermoplastic composite parts – from glass- or carbon-preformer to the finished part trimming, including chemical dispensing unit and mixing head, moulds, mould carriers, handling and heating systems, trimming, and controls – is available from Cannon. The company will highlight ESTRIM, a high pressure injection technology for the fast production of moulded epoxy-based composite parts.
On top of dedicated preformers, polymerisation clamps, and moulds, Cannon offers the high-pressure metering and mixing equipment E-System. In addition to a standard system in closed mould, two methods in open mould have been developed: ESTRIM LLD for a liquid laydown and ESTRIM SLD for a spray application. The first industrial results of a project named CRESIM (Carbon Recycling by Epoxy Special Impregnation), aimed at the development of processing methods for the manufacture of CFRP parts using recycled carbon fibres, will be presented.
This Life+ EU-sponsored project addresses the waste reuse issue by demonstrating a new manufacturing process, which will potentially reuse up to 100 % of the carbon fibre waste and scraps from different industrial sectors. In addition, Cannon will showcase equipment for the wind-power industry, including its series of low-pressure DX machines (two- and three-component models), a degassing unit for resin, and a glue dispenser for the application of two-component adhesives.
Furthermore, the company will present a compression moulding line for LWRT (Light Weight Reinforced Thermoplastics) and the new, completely redesigned mixing head for co-injection of PU and glass fibre for the InterWet technology.
