FSK holds polyurethane introductory workshop at Hennecke

FSK, the German specialist association for foamed plastics and polyurethanes, together with its member company Hennecke GmbH, conducted an introductory workshop on 25 March 2014 in Sankt Augustin, Germany, inviting those foreign to the industry to come and discover the great diversity of the material polyurethane.

In addition to an introduction to the fields of application and chemical principles of polyurethane-chemistry, the non-industry participants were also able to witness the production of polyurethane components up close in the technical centre of the machine manufacturer Hennecke.

More than 90 interested visitors, including university representatives, professors, students, designers and junior managers from industrial companies came to the workshop in Sankt Augustin to be informed about the almost infinite diversity of polyurethane and to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge about the material. Therefore Hennecke, together with the FSK, conducted three workshops.

“We were overwhelmed by the interest in the material and our event,” said Hennecke CEO Rolf Trippler. “It is important to promote the almost unlimited possibilities of the high-performance plastic polyurethane to the outside world. It is not yet known everywhere what all can be done with polyurethane,” said Hennecke Sales Manager, Jens Winiarz.

“For us as an association, it is important to not only theoretically talk about polyurethane in seminar rooms, but rather to demonstrate in practice, in a technical centre, what is possible,” said FSK Managing Director, Dr. Hans W. Schloz explaining the reason for conducting the workshop at the machine manufacturer's location. The ability to conduct such workshops in cooperation with the member company Hennecke is extremely valuable and not self-evident, especially since equipment, time, rooms, and manpower are provided by the host company said Schloz.

In the technical centre, the Hennecke employees had prepared a presentation demonstrating the processing of polyurethane soft and rigid foam and spray applications. Interested participants were thus able to gain an overview from the solution approach in practical tests through to problem solving with customised polyurethane systems.
