Hexpol buys US rubber compounder Robbins

Hexpol has acquired Robbins Holdings, Inc. including Robbins LLC for a price of USD 89.2 million.

Robbins is a leading US rubber compounder and a global leader in moulded envelopes and curing tubes for especially truck, heavy equipment, and airplane tyres. The company has an estimated annual turnover of approximately USD 100 million with around 240 employees and operates three production facilities in the USA: Muscle Shoals, AL, Findlay, OH, and Tallapoosa, GA. According to Hexpol, Robbins will be consolidated from December 2012.

“The acquisition is a very good compliment to Hexpol Compounding and broadens our presence with rubber compounds into end user markets like agriculture, mining, oil and gas. It also brings a global leadership in moulded envelopes and curing tubes to the tyre industry,” said Georg Brunstam, CEO Hexpol Group.
