VIETNAM PTT to present Vietnamese government with study for Binh Dinh PC complex

Thailand’s PTT Plc has completed and is preparing to submit to the Vietnamese government a study for a petrochemical complex to be built in Vietnam’s Binh Dinh province.

The project includes a 400,000-b/d refinery and the production of about 5-million t/y of olefins and aromatics, said Thai media sources, citing PTT Chief Operating Officer for downstream petroleum products Saran Rangkasiri.

PTT expects to hold a 40% interest in the complex, with the Vietnamese government holding 20% and an unidentified partner the remaining 40%.

If approved by the government, Saran said PTT will proceed with the project, which will take about seven years to complete. About 50% of the production will be sold domestically and the rest exported.
