Harburg-Freudenberger acquires Universal Mixer business from Coperion

On 1 July 2013, Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH, located in Freudenberg, Germany, acquired the Universal Mixer business of Coperion GmbH, Stuttgart, Germany. Financial details were not disclosed.

The acquisition extends Harburg-Freudenberger’s product portfolio of mixer technologies and widens their field of applications significantly. The company now offers new machines based on the Coperion technology, as well as service and spares for machines formerly built by Coperion. The universal mixers are marketed under the name Umix. Until 1985, the universal mixers had already been engineered and manufactured in Freudenberg, when the predecessors of Coperion and Harburg-Freudenberger were both part of Werner & Pfleiderer.

According to Harburg-Freudenberger, the Umix machines differ from internal mixers by their less rigid design. Their fields of application are mainly products of medium and low viscosity and thus require considerably lower investment and operation costs. On request they are equipped with HF Mixing Group’s state-of- the-art control and automation system Advise.

Harburg-Freudenberger Maschinenbau GmbH is part of the HF Mixing Group, a leading manufacturer in the field of rubber mixing machinery and complete mixing room technology for the tyre- and technical rubber goods industry.
