BorsodChem site to house new investment by Donau Chemie
The new facility will use hydrochloric acid (HCl), a by-product of BorsodChem’s isocyantes production. Donau Chemie will make an initial investment of EUR 6 million to establish the water treatment chemicals plant. The new plant is expected to be operational at the end of 2012 and will create approximately 20 new jobs.
As part of the agreement, Donau Chemie will also handle and distribute the HCl which BorsodChem will produce in increased volumes with the start-up of its new TDI plant. Furthermore, Donau Chemie is committed to supply chlorine to BorsodChem in case of any shortfalls.
Although most of BorsodChem’s HCl will be distributed via Donau Chemie, BorsodChem will continue to sell approximately 30,000 – 40,000 t of HCl annually in the Central and Eastern European market directly.
