The Energy Winner Award is granted to producers who conserve energy by minimizing use and maximizing efficiency. Walltite, a spray-applied polyurethane foam insulation, won the award in the sustainable (green) building area as a result of its performance and contribution to increasing energy efficiency in buildings by providing a cost-effective way to reduce energy use and associated CO2 production.

Dong-moon Kim, head of polyurethanes business in Korea said: “We are very pleased that Walltite has been recognized for its innovative contribution to sustainable housing, and it is especially significant that this can make a difference for consumers. We will continue to deliver simple, energy efficient insulating systems that help save energy costs for end-users.”

The closed-cell foam can simply be sprayed onto surfaces and, due to its initial liquid state, enables all joints and hard-to-reach areas to be fully sealed. These unique qualities allow the insulation to be applied with unmatched speed and versatility compared to other conventional forms of insulation. By virtually eliminating air leakage, Walltite helps to control the movement of water vapor and moisture in and out of the building, reducing the risk of condensation and mildew. According to BASF, Walltite can even help prolong a building’s life, as it protects against premature deterioration of building materials.

The Energy Winner Award was established in 1997 to promote the companies to produce energy efficient products and the consumers to use such products. This award is sponsored by the Presidential Committee on Green Growth, the Ministry of Environment, and Korea Energy Management Corporation.
